perturbation of very low frequency electromagnetic waves in earth-ionosphere waveguide

Author: Nino Kvavadze
Annotation:

Both earth's surface and ionosphere are good electro conductors, between them is earth's atmospheres electroneutral part. Roughly, we get earth-ionosphere waveguide. Ionosphere consists of D, E and F layers, which are ionised at different levels. Because of low density of electrons studies of ionosphere D layer is a problem. Since 2011 at Iv. JavakhiSvili Tbilisi State University Ionosphere Observatory, very low frequency (15 – 25 KHz) communication transmitters amplitude and frequency variations are being observed. The aperture used was created here and is broadband with fast furie analysis in real time and was obtained amplitude and frequency characteristics. The purpose of Bachelor's Thesis was to develop data processing methods for data obtained from 2011 spring to 2013 spring. For very low frequency transmitters located in different geographical positions find correlation between signal amplitude variations and solar activity data and magnetic Kp index, as well as finding daily and seasonal variations.
