This Master's paper aims to rethink and study sequential performance of query processing and optimization fundamental methods in database systems. Particular emphasis is placed on strategies for increasing the efficiency of calculation procedures of queries. The issues discussed in this paper are relevant and important not only for existing database management systems but also for a wide audience of people who works with databases as database system planners and managers, application developers and those who even works with applications.
